Implementation Plan Chapter 2: Characterization of the IWJV Landscape (2013)

Our landscape architects capabilities range from conceptual design and sketch proposals through to detailed design and management plans. We design soft and hard landscape elements in rural to urban environments. We can provide drawings for planning applications and construction, and can project manage works on site under contract.

Our design approach is based on our understanding of site context, client vision and operational needs. Our ability to harness strengths from our various disciplines such as urban design, ecology and historic environment allow us to produce holistic and integrated design solutions. Strategic Implementation Plan for EOSC Published

This innovative project was the first major project designed by Landmark Design, and remains one of the most important, signaling our dedication to design responses that are appropriate and responsive to regional and environmental conditions. Designed and implemented from to along nine-miles of urban highway in the Salt Lake Valley, the project utilized a design approach that demonstrates that native plants can be established and maintained without supplemental irrigation. Site conditions were thoroughly investigated and revegetation methodologies researched, resulting in a project that established a market for and increased interest in native plants and water-wise design approaches. The project incorporated water harvesting planting techniques, captured and reused storm water, incorporated a variety of erosion control and soil protection methods, relied heavily on low water use and adapted native plants, and utilized revegetation methodologies adapted to an urban environment.

The Strategy provides a framework to manage weeds on a strategic scale through coordination in planning, investment and operational activities across landscapes, land management boundaries irrespective of tenure and local control authority jurisdictions. The Plan directs activities at the regional landscape scale. It includes detailed management actions developed to compliment the weed management objectives identified by the strategy. Currently resources are insufficient to control all invasive weeds effectively at all locations across the region. In order to effectively utilise the limited resources available, management efforts need to be prioritised and focussed on where maximum benefits will occur. The Implementation Plan contained in this document, is the framework for achieving this. The main objective of the Plan is to direct activities at the regional landscape scale that will be most beneficial to economic, social and environmental outcomes. The Plan emphasises the importance of preventing new weeds from establishing and the need to respond quickly to new incursions. It includes detailed management actions developed to compliment the five weed management objectives identified by the strategy:.

Playa Lakes Joint Venture PLJV has developed a suite of biological planning tools to help partners target and evaluate bird habitat conservation efforts and increase conservation efficiency. Partners are encouraged to download the tools below and contact PLJV Science Director Anne Bartuszevige for help in using them in planning for a particular project. Our Conservation Delivery Team, Christopher Rustay and Matt Smith , are also available to help with project planning and implementation. PLJV took the conservation and population objective recommendations described in the four continental four bird conservation plans and applied them to our landscape. These team reports describe how the continental recommendations were scaled to create bird population objectives and goals for the PLJV. The reports also describe habitat needs for each of the four bird groups at the regional scale.

IMPLEMENTATION PLANING LAE

Landscaping by rules does not take into account individual family needs and the site into account. Built-in design limitations occur by such so-called rules as: always plant shrubs in groups of three or five, and, never plant annuals in the public area. This article does not provide rules or recipes for landscape design. Instead it offers concepts to be drawn upon selectively to meet individual landscape needs. Consider the site analysis , the style of architecture, and the family's personal landscape needs when creating the design. What you're looking for is to have a pleasing visual relationship between the landscape site's specific features and the site itself. Creating defined spaces are important in accomplishing this objective between pleasing visual relationships, family needs and specific site features.
